Okay, so first off, Phase 2 is delayed. While trying to clean up my folder of images, and collecting the single image listings online, I found...more images! That's both good news and bad news. So I've got probably another dozen or so to work through. As I'm adding those, I'm starting to do some Phase 3 clean-up work so there's less to do later, so hopefully I can make up some time then. We're approaching the 1 year anniversary of the start of this project, and I'd like to get the blog to the point where I can put it "out there." Anyway, back to the listings.

I've got a few 1- 4 pin listings to go through before we move onto Phase 2.

Sometimes with these, I don't know if the specific pins were for sale or if they were just "representative" of what products they have available. But this site is about listing what is being advertised as available, which this fits the bill. But Pinpics doesn't seem to indicate that this pin has been showing up in massive quantities. Also, I wonder sometimes if these are the true scrappers. In order to create a LE500 like this, how many do they actually stamp out? Also, possibly if there was an error made (spelling error on the backstamp, wrong LE size, wrong colors used), I would guess they would have to start over and stamp out new pins leaving the first batch available to be sold.

This is an older image, that still is floating around the Marketplace websites. This image actually appears on the Dizpins listings, so some of the pins are older than what we've been seeing lately, so that leads to some new identifications.

This image also has a bunch of Dwarfs in the first row, that made me re-evaluate where they were actually from. I think they are from a 2009 Blu-Ray boxed set, but the initial Pinpics warnings were put on the 1999 Framed set. I'm working with them to see if we can clean that up, and figure out where they actually go. But for now, I will be listing both sets of Pinpics numbers. And I've updated the blog post for the image where they showed up the first time.

Recap: Where are we, where are we going?

Just a quick recap post to gather my thoughts about where I am in the process and where I am going.

After almost a year, I'm almost finally finished with Stage 1. Stage 1 was to Google for Chinese factory listings, make screenshots, save photos, print images, identify all the pins and start building the master list. I have about 15 more images to post, which I hope to finish in the next couple of days. There are probably more images to find, but I'll have to do some more heavier duty searching than I've been doing, maybe try to use the Internet Web Archive to find older images that have been removed because they are out of date, etc.

Then I'll move on to Stage 2. Stage 2 will be almost the same as Stage 1, except it will be for the images that were collected by Dizpins prior to ceasing operations. The link to those images is in the link list on the right. I think this will go much quicker, because many of the pins will be duplicates. But the images contain a bunch of older counterfeits from the Cast Lanyard series and older rack pins, so it's definitely worth going through all of those pins. I hope to finish all of those within a couple of weeks, hopefully before the 1 year anniversary of this blog.

Stage 3, will be cleanup of the blog. It took awhile to wrap my head around how I wanted to organize and phrasing of the pin listings. I need to go back and make sure the way I referred to each of the Hidden Mickey series is uniform, check for spelling errors, verify the Pinpics numbers are accurate, etc. At that point the "duplicate" listings will be removed from the Master list, and each pin will only be listed once, but I think I might leave a reference to how many times it appears in a counterfeit image. And I'll see what I can do about getting pictures, or Pinpics links. Also, at that time I will make the lists of Hidden Mickey and Vinylmation pins only. I might also make other pages like those, where I can list specific series that have been counterfeited like certain rack pin series, or WDW Gold Card series, etc. Hopefully, those will make it easier for people to find the specific pins they have a question about.

Stage 4. Time to go public. I keep writing as if I have regular followers, but in truth I've only shared this blog with one other person. How useful this blog will turn out to be, I have no idea, but at least *I* have a better understanding of how many pins have been compromised, the types of pins, how many (or actually few) manufacturers are involved in this.

Stage 5: Continue to look for new images.

This listing is probably the last image I have that is primarily of unidentified pins. Most of these are old pins, probably some of the earliest stuff to have come out of China. Some of these pins were added to Pinpics in the era from we didn't know where this unknown stuff, or things that didn't quite match up with the released versions were coming from. Now, I'm pretty sure that they were all bad pins.

4th pin, in 4th row is a Mickey pin from a Journey Through Time Pin Event Framed Set. The pins from that pin set have not been listed individually, so I can't give a pin number for that pin, but the Pinpics number for that set is 24531. EDIT: Found the Mickey listed individually.
